Refresher Course on Algebra*
Ramanujan Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics is celebrating the 51th year of UGC-Centre for Advanced Study. In accordance, Ramanujan Institute plans to conduct the Refresher Course on Algebra for college teachers during December 05-18, 2018.
The proposed refresher course on Algebra is aimed at the university (college) teachers who are teaching Algebra or plan to do research in Algebra. The course ingredients include
1. Actions of Groups on Sets, Sylow Theorems.
2. Rings, Polynomial rings.
3. Module theory, Structure theorem for abelian groups.
4. Free modules, projective modules, injective modules.
5. Fields, finite fields, Galois theory.
The lectures will cover advanced topics on Algebra taught at the M.Sc. level and beyond.
Preference will be given to faculties teaching Algebra.
The number of participants are limited to 45.
Registration fee for the course is Rs. 2000.
Registration fee can be paid online to Director and Head, Ramanujan Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics.
Note: No TA/DA will be paid for the participants. Participants have to arrange for their own accommodation and lunch during their stay.
